How secure is my data?

At Moneza, we prioritize the security and privacy of our clients’ information. We have implemented robust security measures, including encryption, secure connections, and regular security audits, to ensure that your information remains safe and confidential. Additionally, we comply with all relevant data protection regulations in Kenya to safeguard your data.

Can I access the Moneza app outside Kenya.

Our application currently supports Kenyan residents only.

What languages does Moneza App support?

Currently, our mobile app is only available in English. However, our customer care team provides support in both English and Swahili to assist you with any queries or concerns.

Application Process

How do I get the loan?

After successfully downloading and installing the Moneza loan app, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Click “register now” under the NEW CUSTOMER section.

Step 2: Enter your Safaricom mobile number, then click continue, and you will receive an
SMS with a 4-digit verification code.

Step 3: Input the 4-digit verification and click continue.

Step 4: Read our Terms and Conditions and Marketing Policy and click on confirm and proceed.

Step 5: Enter a 4-digit PIN number to set your pin and click on save my pin.

Step 6: On the email verification section, select the “Sign in with Google” option by clicking on
the arrow icon. If you are using a different email domain e.g. Hotmail or yahoo, manually enter your email address section and click on “Continue.” You should receive a four-digit code immediately in your email. Input the 4-digit verification you have just received in your email and click continue.

Step 7: Enter your first name, middle name (if available), last name, and National ID number, and
click on next. Ensure you enter the names exactly as they appear on your ID card.

Step 8: Choose a security question and enter your answer. Once you successfully complete the registration process, proceed to check your loan limit and apply for a loan

How do I download the app?

Please visit our website: https://moneza.ke/ and click on the “Download app” or “Download Now” button to download the Moneza app

Can I register more than one number?

No! For security reasons, you can only register one registered Safaricom number under your national ID.

Can I use an Airtel mobile number?

We are currently unable to offer our loan services through Airtel mobile numbers as our systems only support registrations made using registered Safaricom mobile numbers.

Can I add a new mobile number?

We currently only allow one mobile number per user for security reasons.

What do I need to register with Moneza?

To successfully register, you need to have an Android-powered mobile phone, a Kenyan national ID, a Safaricom mobile number registered under your national ID, and email address.

Do you have any registration fees?

We don’t charge any registration fees. The principal amount you apply for is exactly what you’ll receive in your MPesa.

What is the security question used for?

The security question is a private question that requires your specific answer. This answer acts as a backup for securing your account details. To ensure your account is secure, please never share the answer with anyone.

Why can’t I install the app?

After downloading the app, please make sure you enable the setting that allows your phone to install apps from unknown sources. This setting can be found in your phone’s security or application settings. If you continue to encounter difficulties during the installation process, please call us at +254207909129 or contact us via WhatsApp at +254719521683 for help.

I forgot my PIN

Open the app, below the sign in tab, select Forgot Pin option then select “Click Here”. Enter your email address and put the 4-digit code sent to your email. Verify and set your new PIN.

How can I change my PIN?

Sign into the app, on the main page, click on the small white circle with a yellow dot on the top right corner of your screen. Click on change PIN, set new 4-digit PIN and click on change PIN.

How do I change my personal details on the app?

To change your personal details, kindly send a request via email to info@moneza.co.ke using the email address you used to register on the app. In your email, please include:
– Your full name, ID number & mobile number you used to register
– Also, state the reason for the change and specify the current details and the new details you want to update.

Why I’m I not getting the SMS verification code?

To get the SMS verification code, ensure that you have enabled your Safaricom mobile number to receive promotional messages by dialing *456*9*5*5*1#.

Why I’m I not getting the Email verification code?

Once you enter your Email address and you still can’t locate your verification code in your email’s inbox, please check your spam folder.

Loan Information

Why am I rejected? /Loan not approved.

Our system checks several factors including but not limited to your history with other lenders, transaction history and information from credit reference bureau to determine if you qualify for a loan.

What do I need to do to improve my chances of getting a loan limit?

Repaying your loans on time, building positive credit with other lenders and maintaining a good credit score with the credit reference bureau.

What are your interest rates?

At Moneza we strive to offer flexible and accommodating terms for our clients. Our interest rate in annual percentage rate (APR) can be up to 778% maximum.

How do I increase my loan limit?

You can increase your chances of receiving a higher loan limit by consistently repaying all your loans with Moneza on time.

How do I check my loan limit on the Moneza app?

Make sure you complete the registration, then click on “Apply for a Loan” to check your loan limit.

How can I repay?

To repay your loan using the mobile application, please follow these steps:
– Log into your Moneza loan account, tap on “Repay Now”
– Select your preferred payment option: full amount, current installment amount, or a manually chosen amount.
– You will receive an M-Pesa prompt to enter your M-Pesa pin and complete the payment successfully.

To repay your loan using M-Pesa app or Sim toolkit, please follow these steps:
– Go to Lipa na M-Pesa and select Pay bill
– Enter the pay bill number 4224700. account number, enter the phone number that received the loan or ID number

Can I repay my loan in installments?

Yes! For example, If you are offered 1,000 KES for 90 days, you will repay in two instalments. The first instalment in the amount of 700 KES will be repaid after 45 days. The second instalment in the amount of 700 KES will be repaid after 90 days. Total amount to repay will be 1,400 KES. Annual percentage rate (APR) will be 200,57%

Are there penalty fees if I repay late?

A daily penalty fee of 1% is applied to the outstanding amount for each day the payment is overdue.

Do you offer loan extension or rollover services?

We do not offer loan extension services at the moment, but we might introduce them in the near future.

Smile ID

Why do I need to complete Smile ID verification?

We require Smile ID verification to protect your identity and ensure the security of your loan application. This helps prevent fraud and ensures that your personal information is secure.

How does the Smile ID verification process work?

The process involves capturing your selfie and a photo of your national ID using your smartphone. Smile ID then compares your selfie with the ID photo to verify your identity.

Is my data safe during the Smile ID verification process?

Yes, your data is securely encrypted and only used to verify your identity. Smile ID follows strict data protection protocols to ensure your information remains confidential.

What should I do if Smile ID verification fails?

If the verification fails, you can try the process again, ensuring that your face is clearly visible, and your ID is properly aligned. If issues persist, please contact our customer support team for assistance.

Can I skip the Smile ID verification process?

Unfortunately, you can’t skip this process, completing the Smile ID verification is mandatory for all loan applications. It is a critical step in securing your loan and ensuring your identity is protected.

I lost my physical ID, but I have the number. What do I do?

We require physical ID to verify your identity, and the number will unfortunately not be applicable.

I have submitted my ID and selfie, but I am denied a loan.

I’m sorry you can’t get a loan from us now. Our systems calculate your credit limit based on various factors, including but not limited to your history with other lenders, Transaction history, and information from credit reference bureaus. Please try again in a few days.
